Turtle Talk with Crush
If you ever wanted to talk to a turtle now is your chance. At disneyland you get to have a real in-depth chat with Crush, the sea turtle from Disney-Pixar's "Finding Nemo". This interactive attraction first opened on November 16, 2004 at Epcot. The attraction is in a movie theater-like room which has a large aquarium window, with a host/puppeteer, but in reality the aquarium window is a large rear-projection screen. How did disney make Crush be able to talk back? Disney uses digital puppetry which allows the puppeteer who is infront of the window control the turtle without moving. If you have ever played the Wii it is like a similar concept except the controller is in the cuffs of the puppeteer and slight movements  allow the turtle to move.

Disney's Epcot

Spaceship Earth, The icon of Epcot
Today i will be talking about Epcot. Epcot is a theme park located at Walt Disney World Resort. Epcot is dedicated to international culture and technological innovation. It opened on October 1st, 1982. Epcot was constructed for an estimated $800 million to $1.4 billion and took three years to build. It was the largest project in the world at that time.  It covers an area of 300 acres, its parking lot is about 140 acres which can hold up to 11,211 vehicles.

Epcot is an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Disney's original vision of EPCOT was for a model community, home to 20,000 residents, which would be a test bed for city planning and organization. Disney's vision was not realized as funding and permission to start work on his Florida property was unable to be obtained until he agreed to build the Magic Kingdom first. Disney died before the Magic Kingdom opened and the Walt Disney Company decided that it did not want to be in the business of running a city.

Part of the Japanese Pavilion a large Pagoda
In Epcot there are world showcases which contain pavilions representing eleven countries. There are pavilions for Mexico, Norway, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada. The World Showcase usually opens two hours after the park opens and remains open later then the rest of the park. Unlike the Magic Kingdom, which does not serve alcohol, many stores and restaurants in the World Showcase sell alcoholic beverages from their respective countries.
